Behind the philosophy that drives Citizen Advocacy is the belief that

  • All people have abilities
  • We all have feelings, desires, needs and rights that must be met
  • It is incorrect to assume that individuals with disabilities have their needs adequately met by the human service system
  • Being disabled is not a good excuse for denial of opportunities or service
  • People with disabilities should be a part of the community and live as independent as able
  • All people are worthy and entitled to personal relationships and experiences
